April Reign

Speak your mind even if your voice shakes

and the winner is…..

01/11/2007 by Debra

I’ve never been much for awards of any type. They seem more like popularity contests than indicative of anything in particular.

Some of the best and most informative posts I’ve read come from very small almost anonymous blogs.

That being said I thought I’d add my two cents to the continuing round of blog awards.

First up… everyone.

To every blogger who takes the time to bring an issue to our attention, to post about their personal struggles, to encourage us to take our activism to the streets.

Thank you for your time. Even those I disagree with.

You all have so much knowledge and talent. Thank you for sharing it.

Next an award to those bloggers who continue to be a voice for those who are not being heard.

An award to those who follow the political machinations and cut through the bullshit.

An award to the wonderful, courageous, informed, intelligent women who continue to battle for women’s rights including reproductive rights. The lack of understanding surrounding these blog posts is astounding and your continued participation is awe inspiring.

And I do not want to forget those who post on message boards, Bread and Roses, EnMasse and Babble.

These boards would not exist without the passion of the people who post there. I appreciate their willingness to share their writings with others and have learned so much from them.

As well as made many friends.

I hope all bloggers and board members will recognize how important they are. Even if it sometimes seems that no one is reading your words…keep putting them out there. You never know who you may be reaching, and what you may be helping them learn.
