When the Liberal is now a Conservative!
The spin doctors must be making even their own heads turn with this one.
When those reports were filed two weeks ago, they showed that Khan’s car dealership loaned losts of money to his riding association.
There was $88,000 loaned in 2004 and $91,000 in 2005.
While such loans aren’t illegal, they must be paid back. A local Liberal admits they haven’t been repaid yet.
“No, the loans have not been paid back, and the reason is we’re waiting for refunds or reimbursements from Elections Canada,” said Paul Gallardo.
However, critics say those refunds, based on votes in the last elections, won’t be enough to cover Khan’s loans.
The Conservatives are going to have a little sticker shock on this new MP they’ve got,” said NDP MP Paul Dewar.
Do mine eyes deceive me or are the Conservatives actually supporting the Liberals???
Conservatives call the whole matter a partisan smear, pointing out that most Liberal leadership candidates took out loans to finance their campaigns.
Better get Baird on the case right away.

I get that having a man who just crossed the floor to them suspected of something fishy is bad for the CPC, but it seems to me, IF there is a scandal here, it’s still a Liberal scandal (I can’t tell yet if this is a scandal at all to tell the truth).
A Liberal politician, loaned money to his Liberal riding association, and the Liberal riding association has yet to pay that money back as required by law. Seems to me the Tories are only touched in that they accepted Khan into their party, after the alleged problems occured while he was a Liberal.
If there is a scandal, I suspect the Tories will take one of two positions.
One (more likely) – announce that they had no idea that when he was a Liberal running as a Liberal that his Liberal riding association tried to pull such a stunt, that they will cooperate in any investigations, and that now that he’s a Tory Khan will be held to a higher ethical standard than he ever was as a Liberal.
Two (probably highly effective, but also extremely unlikely) announce that they had no idea Khan acted this way, and was allowed to act this way when he was a Liberal, and that they will no longer allow Khan to sit with their caucus, having determined that his actions while a Liberal disqualify him from sitting with “Canada’s New Government”. Never happen, of course, but imagine the play of the Tories accepting a Liberal into their caucus, and then immediately kicking him out for unethical behaviour that occured while he was still a Liberal! There would be weeks of “Well, we understand that the Liberals let their members operate that way, and that Khan was free to engage in such shenanigans as a Liberal, but we hold ourselves to a higher standard than the members opposite”. If there’s a scandal here, kicking Khan out of caucus would probably do a 100 times more for the CPC than letting him in ever did!

Either way it’s popcorn worthy!
