Calgary women sent to Montana to deliver

02/08/2007 by Debra

A.R. Media in Calgary reports;

Calgary-The streets are full of protesters upset that pregnant Calgarians are being sent to Montana to deliver their babies.

Alice McMommy head of R.E.A.L. women in Calgary issued this statement.

“How are we supposed to recruit members for FPC* when the government is making it look like having a baby might be difficult? After all we’ve done to support them.”

Cathy Lick opined,”I told my priest how the government was abusing mothers. He told me to treat them nicely and maybe they would stop. So I am going to the legislature with a cake today.”

The Right to Life groups have rallied around these women in an amazing way.

The situaton can best be summed up in the words of Femi Nist, “It is said a pregnant Mary travelled on a donkey, our pregnant women travel because of ass too.”

Survey says

02/02/2007 by Debra

Don’t know how many of you will indulge me in this but here goes.

If you feel so inclined post a comment giving one or two reasons why you vote for the party you do. In other words what values, beliefs, policies what have you that you hold near and dear do they represent.

And if you are feeling brave list one or two things where you part company or you feel they could improve.

Anyone?

Conservatives new childcare plan

02/01/2007 by Debra

The government is considering possible changes to the Youth Criminal Justice Act that would sharply increase the number of young offenders sent to adult jails, according to a memo obtained by CTV News.

The memo sketches a “preferred option” that would “give the Crown discretion to use adult criminal justice procedures for youths aged 16 and 17 who are charged with murder, attempted murder, manslaughter or aggravated sexual assault.”

Judges currently decide whether young offenders should be charged as adults; the option outlined in the memo would strip them of that power.

Lots going on just in that short passage.

Put kids in jail instead of providing educational, work and other opportunities that might make for a future. Not to mention instead of providing decent wages and childcare programs to help steer them in the right direction.

Wonder how many of the kids “adult streamed” will be visible minorities? [Read more…] about Conservatives new childcare plan

schadenfreude*

Story speaks for itself…wonder how this will impact their thoughts on fair use…

OTTAWA — Conservative attack ads fired at Liberal Leader Stephane Dion may end up sideswiping the ruling party after questions were raised about possible breach of copyright laws.

The television ads, which began airing Monday, use footage from last fall’s Liberal leadership debates to deliver the message that the new Grit leader is weak, indecisive and an environmental failure. But that footage belongs to a consortium of TV networks which pooled their resources to provide live coverage of the debates. The Cable Public Affairs Channel provided the pool camera for each debate.

The networks are now looking into how the Conservatives obtained the debate footage for their ads.

When is Liberal corruption not Liberal corruption?

01/16/2007 by Debra

When the Liberal is now a Conservative!

The spin doctors must be making even their own heads turn with this one.

When those reports were filed two weeks ago, they showed that Khan’s car dealership loaned losts of money to his riding association.

There was $88,000 loaned in 2004 and $91,000 in 2005.

While such loans aren’t illegal, they must be paid back. A local Liberal admits they haven’t been repaid yet.

“No, the loans have not been paid back, and the reason is we’re waiting for refunds or reimbursements from Elections Canada,” said Paul Gallardo.

However, critics say those refunds, based on votes in the last elections, won’t be enough to cover Khan’s loans.

The Conservatives are going to have a little sticker shock on this new MP they’ve got,” said NDP MP Paul Dewar.

Do mine eyes deceive me or are the Conservatives actually supporting the Liberals???

Conservatives call the whole matter a partisan smear, pointing out that most Liberal leadership candidates took out loans to finance their campaigns.

Better get Baird on the case right away.
