Shocking Fashion Trends

01/08/2008 by Debra

Leopard TaserWhat do you give the friend who has everything? How about a leopard print Taserâ„¢ with a holster that is also an MP3 player?

The Taser C2 models retail for between $US349.99 and $US379.99 ($435) depending on the chosen design. The Taser C2 holster with MP3 player costs $US72.99 ($83).

If one must carry a potentially lethal weapon, one may as well be chic and entertained at the same time.

The Taser C2, which shoots two electrically charged darts with the same shocking power as the police version, was launched last year. It previously came in four colours – silver, black, blue and pink. The company said Monday that it would also make the guns available in leopard print, “fashion” pink, and “red-hot” red.

“Women want whatever they’re carrying – from a lipstick case to their eyeglass case to their Taser – to look nice and be something they won’t mind if it falls out of their purse,” Holran said.

Now you can tell Mr. Holran really understands the female mind. We all want a weapon that may potentially be used against us to look nice.

I wonder what Mr Holran would make of these?

Wavering, Arizona-based company, Taser Provincial announced its new product today, the taser/vibrating dildo. The C5 taser/vibrating dildo is different from other models in that it is designed take care of all bedroom needs instead of possibly just one. Depending on which end is used, it can provide its user hours of uninterrupted fun.

Gunning for Lack of Control

06/23/2007 by Debra

gunhand.jpgThe Toronto Star reports today that the firearms advisory committee, has appointed virtually only gun enthusiasts, and is operating essentially in secret.

Its dozen members include a man who argued that more guns in the hands of students would have helped in the recent Virginia Tech massacre, in which 32 people were killed, and another shooting aficionado who described a weapon used in last September’s Dawson College killings in Montreal as “fun.”

More inspiring words

“If even 1 per cent of the students and staff at Virginia Tech had been allowed to exercise their right to self defence, then this tragedy would have been stopped in its very beginning and dozens of lives would have been saved,” Dr. Mike Ackermann, a Nova Scotia physician, wrote in a letter to the Ottawa Sun in April. “There are never any mass killings at shooting ranges; only at schools and other so-called `gun-free zones.'”

Gary Mauser, a Simon Fraser University professor renowned for his work opposing gun laws, wrote an opinion piece in the Vancouver Sun in February: “Firearm laws divert scarce resources from alternative approaches that might actually improve public safety.”

Never one to accept anything without research I looked up the “safety stats”, surely the more heavily armed Americans must have a society virtually free from violence.

Um…maybe not

Got Bullets?

05/16/2007 by Debra

So you’re a grandpa of a 10 month old. What do you buy the little tyke? A nice stuffy for his room, a baseball glove for catching practise when he’s older, a savings bond for college. Great ideas all but not as special as a 12-gauge Beretta shotgun.

What 10 month old wouldn’t appreciate that? I’m sure Stewie would. stewie
Little Bubba ( did not make it up ) might not be able to pop off a couple of rounds yet but I’m guessing he has a future in firearms.

Dad even sent in for a firearm owner’s identification card, and the police issued it;

Bubba Ludwig can’t walk, talk or open the refrigerator door – but he does have his very own Illinois gun permit.

The 10-month-old, whose given name is Howard David Ludwig, was issued a firearm owner’s identification card after his father, Howard Ludwig, paid the US$5 fee and filled out the application, not expecting to actually receive one.

The card lists the baby’s height (2 feet, 3 inches), weight (20 pounds) and has a scribble where the signature should be.

With some exceptions, the cards are required of any Illinois residents purchasing or possessing firearms or ammunition within the state. There are no age restrictions on the cards, an official said.

Get violence off the streets and back in children’s organizations

05/11/2007 by Debra

james cartmanDon’t let your kid learn about guns from just any gang, have them learn from one which is well established and has lots of street cred.

From The Star;

Cale Northey went to a Scouts Canada camp to learn about gun safety. He came back with a “licence to kill.”

That’s how his parents view the badge the 11-year-old brought home from a target shooting event in Oshawa last weekend.

The badge features an Agent 007-type figure pointing a gun with a red target over his heart.

“I think it’s terrible,” said Cale’s mother, Jane Northey. “We’ve got kids shooting up everyone these days. What kind of message are we sending them? This badge is a licence to kill sponsored by Scouts Canada.”

The event for Whitby Scouts involved a target-shooting competition using pellet guns and included instruction on safety.

“It was exciting because my mom never lets me use guns,” said Cale, who’s been a Cub for three years. “We learned you have to be really safe with them and not point them anywhere else besides the target, and that they’re very dangerous.”

Northey, a teacher, said she wrestled with the decision to let Cale attend but relented so he could learn “just how dangerous these weapons really are.” She was shocked when she saw the badge.

When she complained to Debra Yeomans, Whitby-area commissioner for Scouts Canada’s White Pine Council, she was told the badge was voted on by leaders who perceived it as something “cool” the youngsters would love.

The national office has asked for the badges to be returned, however, the gun training is still part of the program. The good news is they will have already received some training to go fight America’s wars!
