Third Planet Review

02/24/2007 by Debra

the audio is off a bit but still well worth watching. You may laugh at the Macleans’ reference.

Third Planet Review hosted by hippielawyer Alan Graf, features a panel of activists from The Farm in Summertown, TN commenting on and analyzing the news giving you a completely different take than the corporate pundits. Panelists are Ina May Gaskin, midwife and author, Albert Bates, founder of the Eco-Village Training Center and author of a new book on surviving peak oil and Peter Schweitzer, executive director of Plenty International, otherwise known as the hippy peace corps

Globe & Mail the Fox News of Canada?

02/20/2007 by Debra

The Globe seems to be hanging farther to the right as the weeks go on.

Perfect example this morning with two stories of two leaders written in two very distinctive ways.

Tories surge on Harper’s leadership

Canadians in overwhelming numbers say Stephen Harper is the most decisive federal leader with the clearest vision of where he wants to lead the country, according to a poll that suggests the Conservatives may now have the winning conditions needed for a spring election.

Leader tested by splits in caucus on issue

Political analyst Robin Sears, a chief of staff to former Ontario NDP premier Bob Rae, said Mr. Dion has yet to make clear what his leadership style will be.

“There seems to be a pattern of staking out a hard position and then being forced to backtrack from it,” he said, listing Mr. Dion’s comments on Canada’s Afghanistan mission and his dual Canadian-French citizenship as examples. “Whether you’re a new leader or old, that ain’t a good idea.”

Interesting so in one camp they have managed to make hardline, stick to your guns leadership look inspiring and in the other insipid.

Makes you wonder if Bourque was underhanded or just honest.

Plug-in promotion

02/19/2007 by Debra

Many of us on wordpress owe much to the people who donate their skills and time to create the awesome plug-ins that give us so much flexibility with our blogs.

Today I’d like to thank Ajay for his work on the SPA plug in.

It is what enables the Snap Preview Anywhere which allows you to preview a site before clicking on the link.

Snap introduced a new version on Friday and by today Ajay had already upgraded the plug-in.

So thanks to those who provide their time and talents to provide us with the tools that enrich our blogging experience.

Boys willingly submitted to rape according to O’Reilly

02/07/2007 by Debra

How can you willing submit to rape?

Well only a mind as complex as Billies can answer that.

He has been asked to be a key note speaker at a missing and exploited children’s group fund raiser.

As he is exploiting these boys regularly on his show I suppose he is a natural choice. That is if you are trying to understand the mind of someone who exploits children.

Turner Joins Liberals

02/06/2007 by Debra

Reports from all over today about Garth joining the green Dions.

Many thought Turner would have encamped with E. May’s Greens.

However, in an exclusive interview with A.R. Media Mr. Turner had this to say;

I support the Green Party, some enviromentalists will do anything so better the Green Party than Greenpeace.

But I have talked people out of joining the Green Party and can’t see anything that would induce/reduce me to joining them.

I’d like to see tax incentives and counselling to help prevent more people from joining the Green Party.

I hope people will realize that there are radicals on either side not willing to listen to each other.
Making this a difficult and nuanced decision.

To quote St. Thomas Aquinas, “Who knows when political life begins?”

Disclaimer:
This is par-o-dy

Anti-pregnancy people launch campaign!

02/02/2007 by Debra

New blog site launched today with this press release

Birth Pangs — Save Lives! Regulate Pregnancy!

For Immediate Release 02 February 2007

Anti-pregnancy people launch campaign!

Berlynn
(OTTAWA) A radical group of anti-pregnancy extemists launched their political campaign to eliminate pregnancy with a new website this week. Birth Pangs will be an organizing centre of support in their call for legislation to end pregnancies in Canada.

April Reign, the group’s spokesperson said, “The facts show that carrying a pregnancy to term is more dangerous than other medical procedures. And then there are the post-partum issues: depression, sleepless nights, teenagers.”

Indeed, pregnancy can cause women to suffer physical and psychological damage. The risks of stretchmarks and post partum depression are high. Many go into it at an extremely young age when thoughtless adults assure them they are making the right choice. Many have pregnancy thrust upon them.

Rates of death, also known as maternal morbidity, are between four and five per 100,000 births. “Though this number may seem low,” said Reign, “These lives could have been saved if we had laws against pregnancy.”

The group will initiate a pan-Canadian lobby campaign early next month.
